KITH’s Welcome Home Family Subsidy Program is a 12 month “housing first” program with supportive services which allows a homeless family move into an apartment and immediately begin rebuilding strength to become self-sufficient. KITH subsidizes the family’s rent for one year in market rate housing. The Welcome Home program offers a family case management support, access to education and job training, parenting classes, training in household budgeting, and other services that are crucial to helping families become self‑sufficient.
Welcome Home is made possible by donations from foundations, service organizations, families, churches, workplace groups and businesses. At gift or combined gifts of $15,000 fund Welcome Home for one family for 12 months.
Welcome Home families, with the help of a KITH Case Manager, find their own apartments. This gives them some choice in where they wish to live, which may be close to school and/or work. Each family’s contribution toward monthly rent is determined by their current income. Participating families take over paying the full rent amount at the end of the program period and are able to stay in their apartment.
