Welcome Home
Low-income housing is scarce; shelters and similar multi-family facilities are cramped. According to King County’s 2008 Communities Count, only 11% of rental housing on the Eastside is affordable to those at or below 50% of median income. Many members of our community become homeless simply because they cannot afford this level of rent. Our Welcome Home families, with the help of KITH’s case manager, find their own apartments. This gives them some choice in where they wish to live, which may be close to school and/or work. Each family’s contribution toward monthly rent is determined by their current income. Participating families take over paying the full rent amount at the end of the program period. For more information about how you can help fight homelessness through KITH’s Welcome Home Family Subsidy program, please contact Jennifer Barron at 425-576-9531 x101 or jenniferb@kithcares.org. |
